Job Description

Job Purpose The Land Surveyor is responsible for delivering accurate, reliable, and timely land surveying services in support of DSSU's construction and infrastructure projects. The role spans the full project lifecycle from pre-construction planning and design support, through setting-out and active construction monitoring, to final measurement verification and completion documentation ensuring that all works are executed in strict conformity with approved designs, technical specifications, and applicable surveying standards. 2. Key Responsibilities Survey Planning and Execution Conduct topographical, boundary, site, and engineering surveys to support project planning and design activities. Establish, verify, and maintain site coordinates, benchmarks, levels, and geodetic reference points in accordance with approved control networks. Construction Setting-Out and Monitoring Carry out precise setting-out of buildings, roads, utilities, foundations, and other infrastructure elements before and during construction. Verify dimensions, levels, alignments, and spatial locations of completed works against approved drawings and specifications. Monitor ongoing construction activities through regular surveying, measurement, and quality checks to confirm compliance with design parameters. 2.2 Data Management and Reporting Prepare accurate survey plans, maps, drawings, and topographical datasets for use by project stakeholders. Provide timely and accurate survey data and technical input to engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and contractors. Identify, document, and report any discrepancies between approved designs and actual site conditions, escalating issues promptly to the relevant technical authority. Maintain organized and accurate survey records, field notes, and raw measurement data for audit and reference purposes. Support the preparation of as-built drawings and other project completion documentation. Equipment Management Operate surveying equipment (including GPS/GNSS receivers, total stations, and levels) safely and competently. Ensure all survey equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and stored in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and organizational standards. Requirements Qualifications and Experience 3.1 Education Bachelor's Degree (A0) in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Engineering, or a closely related field. Professional Certification/Registration Professional registration or certification in land surveying with a recognized professional body constitutes an added advantage. 3.2 Relevant Experience A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in land or engineering surveying. Demonstrated experience working on construction and infrastructure projects is highly desirable. 4. Key Competencies Proficiency in topographical and engineering surveying methods and techniques Skilled in construction setting-out for buildings, roads, and utility infrastructure Competent operation of GPS/GNSS equipment and total stations Strong survey data processing, analysis, and quality control skills Working knowledge of CAD and GIS applications High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills Sound problem-solving abilities in dynamic site conditions 4.1 Other Requirements Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or equivalent industry-standard surveying software. Willingness and ability to work outdoors and undertake frequent visits to project sites, including remote or difficult-to-access locations. Demonstrated ability to effectively operate modern surveying equipment and adapt to emerging survey technologies. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams under tight deadlines. 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy and reliability of survey measurements and setting-out works. Timeliness in the provision of survey data to project teams. Accuracy and completeness of topographical plans and survey documentation. Measurable reduction in construction errors attributable to surveying inputs. Consistent maintenance and calibration of survey equipment. Timely completion of all assigned surveying activities within agreed schedules. Q-Sourcing Servtec is an equal opportunity employer.
