Job Description

The QMS Lead is responsible for strengthening the Quality Management System across JEN projects and fabrication partner locations. This role leads to continuous improvement, Lean quality, and customer improvement programmes using performance data, structured problem-solving, process standardization, and cross-functional collaboration. Key outcomes include reduced defects and waste, improved right-first-time delivery, stronger customer confidence, and sustained compliance with contractual, customer, statutory, and code requirements from quality planning through fabrication, inspection, release, shipment readiness, and final Manufacturing Data Record handover.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous improvement roadmap and customer improvement programmes, defining priorities, objectives, owners, milestones, and success measures aligned with business goals, project risks, customer feedback, and recurring performance gaps.
  • Apply Lean methods—including value-stream mapping, 5S, visual management, standard work, A3 problem-solving, Pareto analysis, and mistake-proofing—to eliminate waste and improve quality, flow, and delivery.
  • Analyze quality and operational data and maintain visual dashboards for right-first-time performance, defect recurrence, NCR ageing, audit closure, rework, cost of poor quality, customer concerns, document readiness, and supplier performance.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving and convert complaints, audit findings, NCRs, concessions, inspection results, and lessons learned into systemic corrective and preventive actions, with timely completion and verified effectiveness.
  • Standardize and replicate effective practices across projects and fabrication partners through controlled procedures, checklists, quality gates, standard work, training, and lessons learned.
  • Work with customers, project teams, and fabrication partners to agree improvement priorities, resolve quality concerns, report progress transparently, and demonstrate sustained results.
  • Coach project, production, engineering, procurement, supplier, and quality teams in Lean thinking, quality at source, structured problem-solving, and prevention-focused practices.
  • Lead and support internal, supplier, customer, and certification audits, with focus on compliance, process effectiveness, operational discipline, and improvement opportunities.
  • Govern NCRs, corrective actions, improvement projects, and customer commitments; escalate risks and overdue actions and ensure verified closure.
  • Ensure effective quality planning and control across material receipt, fabrication, welding, NDE, heat treatment, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, assembly, coating, preservation, packing, final release, and shipment readiness.
  • Ensure Manufacturing Data Records and final quality dossiers are complete, traceable, approved, and ready for customer handover, while improving the efficiency and reliability of document compilation and review.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when health, safety, quality, statutory, contractual, project, or customer acceptance requirements are at risk.
  • Promote a culture of customer focus, respect for people, disciplined execution, learning, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in quality management, manufacturing quality, or operational improvement within engineering, fabrication, or project-based environments, including leadership of cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement, Lean, supplier improvement, or customer improvement programmes with measurable and sustained results.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical experience maintaining and improving controlled quality processes, procedures, and records.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean and improvement methods, including value-stream mapping, 5S, standard work, visual management, A3, PDCA, DMAIC, Pareto analysis, root cause analysis, and mistake-proofing.
  • Strong capability in QMS governance, auditing, NCR and CAPA management, quality risk assessment, supplier quality, KPI development, data analysis, and effectiveness verification.
  • Ability to translate customer feedback and operational data into prioritized improvement plans, sustainable controls, and clear management and customer reporting.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, change-management, stakeholder-management, and influencing skills across functions, cultures, and locations.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or an equivalent recognized quality qualification is preferred.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication skills, including preparation of improvement charters, A3 reports, dashboards, audit reports, technical justifications, and customer-facing presentations.
