In this role you will be supporting the Head of QHSE at Riverside Property Services to develop and implement strategies for health, safety and environmental sustainability and improvement across Riverside Property Services (RPS). To identify health, safety & environmental problems and opportunities and clearly communicate solutions and initiatives across RPS. Work with employees to ensure risks in the workplace are properly controlled and impacts on the environment are minimised.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent) accompanied by relevant experience.
• Competent in audit and inspection processes including report writing and development of action plans.
• Experience of working with Health and Safety & Environmental management systems including ISO9001 ISO45001 and ISO14001
• Competent in the use of IT Platforms such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• High attention to detail.

Job purpose
To support the Head of QHSE at Riverside Property Services to develop and implement strategies for health, safety and environmental sustainability and improvement across Riverside Property Services (RPS). To identify health, safety & environmental problems and opportunities and clearly communicate solutions and initiatives across RPS. Work with employees to ensure risks in the workplace are properly controlled and impacts on the environment are minimised.

Role requires you to:
Strategy and Service Development:
• Assist the Head of QHSE in Riverside Property Services to implement the overall strategy for health, safety and environmental sustainability improvement across the organisation.
• To implement the delivery of the Riverside / Riverside Property Services Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
• To assist the Head of QHSE in monitoring any changes in legislation that may impact on the organisation whilst keeping the Health and Safety Legal Register and company procedures up to date.
• Promote good health, safety, and environmental practices across all Riverside activities.
• Assist in the delivery of standardised systems and procedures for the effective management of the organisations health, safety and environmental performance.

Service Delivery:
• Ensure that the operational teams within Riverside comply with policies and procedures relating to all aspects of health, safety and environmental management.
• Ensure a high level of customer service for all employees and managers when providing health, safety and environmental support.
• Carry out or arrange workplace health and safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented. This will require travel to sites across the Southern region.
• Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near misses to be investigated, prepare reports on findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved courses of corrective actions. Where necessary prepare report to external authorities as required by RIDDOR.
• Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary.
• Provide support and advice to the Health and Safety Committee.
• Liaise with recognised trade union officials and carry out regular safety inspections in conjunction with trade union appointed safety representatives.
• Provide general Health and Safety Advice.
• Undertake regular reviews of risk assessments in conjunction with Managers, Supervisors, and trade union officials.
• Engage with managers and employees within the organisation to improve the health, safety performance of the organisation.
• To ensure compliance with Riverside’s Equality and Diversity policy, in respect of employment and service delivery.
• Ensure that all data is compliant with legislation and policies relating to date quality.
• Any other relevant duties as required by the Head of HSE or Directors of the organisation.

• Undertake regular reviews of contractor’s information and working practices.

Other Information
• RPS has premises across the southern region of the UK, and on this basis, there will be the requirement to travel to other locations to effectively perform this role. This role will be predominantly on site with some flexibility for home working.
• The role will be exposed to sensitive information; therefore, the role holder is expected to maintain levels of confidentiality at all times.
• To fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to work flexibly during the hours of operation.
• It is a requirement that the role holder holds a current, valid UK driving licence.
• The role holder is expected to be committed to equal opportunities and to promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.
• You will undertake regular training to enable you to deliver your role safely.
• From time to time, you may be required to undertake additional duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, in consultation with your Line Manager.

Person specification
Essential

• Experience of working with Health and Safety & Environmental management systems including ISO9001 ISO45001 and ISO14001
• Competent in the use of IT Platforms such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• High attention to detail.

Desirable
• Membership of relevant professional body e.g. IOSH, IIRSM etc.
• Internal Auditor (9001/14001/45001).
• IEMA Environmental Management Certificate.
• Professional Membership (IOSH, IIRSM or equivalent).
