and Purpose:

The QC Virology Technician I will ensure in-process materials and final product are tested in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in compliance with regulations according to 9CFR.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

· Conduct titrations, inactivation assurance, identity, and extraneous agent testing for in-process materials and final product

· Conduct testing described above in tissue culture or chicken embryos

· Preparing media and reagents for testing

· Perform mathematical calculations by using Reed-Muench method

· Performed tasks using aseptic technique to avoid contamination

· Document results concurrently and legible when performed

· Report any Out of Specification results

· Routine lab maintenance and cleaning

· Assure QC records are accurate, and compliant

· All other duties as assigned

Technical / Functional Competencies:

· Basic knowledge of Virology

· Must have demonstrable aseptic technique

· Basic skills with databases and word processing programs

Qualifications:

· Education - bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Veterinary Science or equivalent; 4+ years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

· Work Experience – 1+ years in Quality Control or relevant lab experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods of time

· Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English

· Visual inspection

Working Conditions:

· Position located at the Biomune Lenexa campus in the quality control laboratory

· Required to work with hazardous materials in a safe, controlled environment
