Job Description

General Characteristics (Job Summary)

  • Perform quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
  • Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
  • Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
  • Managing and performing inspection of Mechanical discipline.
  • Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
  • Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
  • Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
  • Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
  • Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP and managing Matrix).
  • Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
  • Performing and coordinating inspection with client.
  • Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
  • Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
  • Review and track material submittals required for Mechanical Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
  • Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Mechanical Definable Features of Work.
  • Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
  • Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
  • Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
  • Monitor and inspect specific Mechanical related activities such as site erection of static and rotating equipment.
  • Ensure critical mechanical activities such as rotating equipment flange parallelism, final alignment and final inspection to be conducted as per Contract, Specification and Requirements.
  • Application of Tank engineering principles and practices
  • Design and construction of storage tanks
  • Implementating Tank codes and standards (e.g. API 650, API 653)
  • Understanding of tank drawings and specifications
  • Quality control and inspection techniques for tank systems

Qualifications

Education and Certificate

  • Hold a Degree/Diploma in Engineering Mechanical or equivalent
  • Tank Inspector certification like API 653

Experience

  • From project start to completion

Knowledge.

  • Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
  • Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
  • Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
  • Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
