A Quality Control Inspector safeguards product integrity by performing inspections, tests, and measurements, documenting results, and identifying defects or deviations from specifications. The role supports consistent quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.
Inspect materials, components, and finished products using visual checks, measurement tools, and testing equipment to verify compliance with specifications.
Review and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards.
Document inspection results accurately, including measurements, defects, and corrective actions, using digital or paper-based reporting systems.
Identify and report nonconformities to supervisors, engineers, or production teams, and assist in root-cause analysis when needed.
Perform in-process inspections during manufacturing to ensure ongoing compliance and prevent defects before final assembly.
Use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or testing machines depending on the industry.
Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) by providing data, participating in investigations, and verifying implemented solutions.
Maintain calibration and cleanliness of inspection tools and equipment.
Follow safety protocols and quality procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external standards (ISO, FDA, OSHA, etc., depending on the industry).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and quality assurance to resolve quality issues.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is often preferred.
Prior experience in manufacturing, production, or quality control.
Knowledge of inspection methods, statistical process control (SPC), or quality management systems.
Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) can be beneficial but are not always required.
