Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada’s oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.

Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a QA Technician at our Lethbridge, AB location.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules

  • Participate in the day to day health and safety program by working in a safe manner at all times:

    • Always using the required personal protective equipment

    • Ensuring that authorized work is completed safely

    • Utilizing required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards

    • Participating actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives

    • Reporting all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses as per company procedure

  • Provide quality assurance testing, analysis and technical support Analysis of blends and finished product to ensure specifications are met

  • Testing & reporting on incoming raw materials, packaging & finished goods

  • Interface with production personnel and management to ensure operating conditions are maintained and laboratory specifications are effectively implemented

  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of the food safety and quality management system

  • Must work within established OH&S regulations and comply with all Company policies & procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry

  • Comprehension of & familiarity with lab instrumentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to clearly describe the food safety and quality requirements for producing food products to all staff.

  • Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications specifically Word, Excel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team work ability

  • Willing to work shifts and overtime
