Job Description

Participate in oversight of program(s) for Packaging, Ingredient, Product and Process inspection or verification according to the government regulations including QMP and QMPi, corporate standards and good manufacturing practices. Communicate results to Production and other affected Departments of HLFI or suppliers and customers, including microbiological, physical and chemical analysis.

· Assist production management with investigations of quality related production problems.

· Provide technical support with investigations for customer complaints

· Lead and participate in sensory evaluation of raw materials and finished products.

· Supervise QA Staff and give direction and support on daily duties.

· Drive continuous improvement of products, processes, procedures and specifications. Evaluate and revise quality documents as needed.

· Identify and action deficiencies through Corrective Action Reports. Participate in Root Cause Analysis for effective solutions.

· Support and help drive a positive Safety and Quality Culture throughout the organization.

· Provides technical support on projects relating to production, maintenance, Sales, and R&D. Participate in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

· Post-Secondary degree in food science or a related field.

· 4 years' experience in QA / QC management role preferred

· Ability to communicate and participate in a team environment (problem solving, training, and corrective actions).

· Knowledge of food regulations, HACCP programs, GMP’s and SOP’s.

· Familiarity with regulatory, third party, and customer audits.

· Ability to work independently.

· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working conditions

Office Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet.

Plant Environment: The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors. Flexibility of work hours. Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time if needed.

Physical requirements/Allergens

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings. The employee must have visual acuity sufficient to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, as well as other office and position equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees and vendors.

As an employee working in a production facility, you may be exposed to allergenic ingredients including but not limited to fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and tree nuts.
