The Quality Engineering (QE) Manager leads the software quality organization responsible for web, mobile (React Native), and API test automation across digital products. This role defines the quality engineering vision, shifts testing left, integrates robust automated test suites into GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and manages test environments and quality engineers to ensure fast, defect-free production deployments.

Responsibilities:
QE Strategy & Automation Leadership: Formulate and implement comprehensive test automation strategies covering Web UI, React Native mobile apps (iOS & Android), and backend GraphQL/.NET APIs.
CI/CD & Tooling Integration: Oversee the expansion of automated test frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Detox, Appium, Maestro) into GitLab CI/CD pipelines to achieve automated regression testing and rapid delivery velocity.
Team & Resource Management: Direct internal quality engineers and offshore testing partners. Drive skill development, test data management, device cloud infrastructure (BrowserStack/Sauce Labs), and performance/load testing capabilities.
Quality Metrics & Release Governance: Establish quality metrics (defect density, automation coverage, test execution speed) and enforce release quality gates in partnership with Product, Engineering, and DevOps leads.
Administrative: Perform all other administrative and organizational duties as required (time keeping, training, travel, collaboration and correspondence, etc.)
Knowledge & Skills:
Scope: Direct leadership of Quality Engineers (automation and manual). Quality oversight for web platforms, mobile apps, and supporting API services across digital release cycles. Oversees end-to-end quality assurance across ecommerce platforms, including web, mobile, APIs, and backend systems. Defines testing strategies for new features, integrations, and releases across multiple teams and geographies. Ensures quality across customer journeys, payment systems, inventory, and third-party integrations..
Problem solving: Identifies root causes of defects through data analysis, logs, and cross-functional collaboration. Resolves bottlenecks in test automation pipelines and CI/CD workflows. Develops scalable solutions for flaky tests, environment instability, and regression failures.
Impact: Directly impacts application reliability, guest experience, software release velocity, and brand reputation by preventing production defects and performance regressions. Improves release velocity and reduces post-release defects by implementing robust test automation. Enhances customer experience by ensuring seamless checkout, search, and personalization features. Drives measurable improvements in test coverage, defect leakage, and QA cycle time.
Leadership: Requires strong QA leadership, process transformation capabilities, collaborative communication, and team management skills. Manages and mentors QA engineers across manual and automated testing domains. Champions quality culture across engineering, product, and business teams. Leads test strategy reviews, defect triage meetings, and sprint planning sessions.
Essential/Minimum Qualifications:
12+ years in Software Quality Engineering and Test Automation.
5+ years of direct experience managing quality engineering teams supporting web and mobile applications.
Essential experience required:
Travel: Less than 25% with shoreside travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
**This position is classified as “hybrid.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Princess location Mondays through Thursdays. Fridays you can work from home.
