From our office at IDB Lisbon we deliver application development, architecture, and IT operations for major European organisations, working as an integrated nearshore extension of our clients' teams.

About the Assignment

• Client: Global automotive manufacturer — customer care and engineering technology programme
• Engagement: Full-time
• Start date: First half of September 2026
• Duration: Up to 3 years
• Model: Nearshore delivery from Lisbon, with on-site onboarding in the Netherlands (1–2 weeks)
• Office presence: Minimum 3 days per week on-site in Lisbon
• Travel: Initial onboarding in the Netherlands. Occasional travel may be required throughout the assignment, and colleagues from the client organisation will also regularly visit the Lisbon team.

The client operates a global customer service technology ecosystem spanning three key platforms: Salesforce CRM and case management, a distributed Azure and .NET application landscape, and a Genesys Cloud contact centre environment.

The QA Engineer / Test Automation Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality across this entire landscape. This role goes beyond application-level testing and focuses on validating end-to-end customer journeys, ensuring seamless integration between systems, and building sustainable automated test coverage that identifies issues before they reach production.

Key Responsibilities

TEST STRATEGY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Define testing strategies, quality approaches, and release validation criteria across complex multi-platform environments.
• Design and execute functional, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios covering Salesforce, Azure-based applications, and Genesys Cloud solutions.
• Validate customer journeys spanning multiple systems, ensuring business processes operate consistently from customer interaction through case management and backend processing.
• Support defect management activities and provide quality assessments ahead of releases.

TEST AUTOMATION

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering functional, integration, and API-level testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality validation is part of every deployment cycle.
• Continuously improve automation coverage while maintaining efficiency, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Identify opportunities for automation and advocate for approaches that provide measurable value to the programme.

REGRESSION MANAGEMENT

• Own and continuously improve the regression testing framework across all programme platforms.
• Ensure regression suites remain relevant, reliable, and aligned with evolving business and technical requirements.
• Expand automated coverage as new functionality is introduced and retire obsolete test scenarios when appropriate.
• Provide reporting and insights on test coverage, quality metrics, and defect trends to support programme decision-making.

COLLABORATION

• Work closely with developers, architects, Product Owners, and delivery teams across Salesforce, Azure, and Genesys Cloud environments.
• Identify and communicate quality risks early, providing constructive challenge where necessary.
• Contribute to the definition and adoption of quality standards, testing practices, and ways of working across multiple markets.
• Promote a quality-first mindset throughout the programme.

Requirements

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience as a QA Engineer within enterprise software delivery environments.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ownership of regression testing frameworks and long-term test suite maintenance.
• API testing experience, including validation of REST services, integration behaviour, and service contracts.
• Experience testing complex solutions where customer journeys span multiple integrated platforms.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum, user stories, sprint ceremonies, and Definition of Done practices.
• Structured and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

SENIORITY

• Medior to Senior level — minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, including at least 2 years focused on test automation design and implementation.

• Service Cloud testing
• Validation of Salesforce Flows and integrations

Azure / AI QA

• API and cloud application testing
• AI and GenAI solution validation
• Test design for intelligent systems

Genesys Cloud QA

• Contact centre process testing
• IVR testing and validation
• Routing and omnichannel customer journey testing

OTHER ADDED VALUE

• Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Provar, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience validating AI or GenAI-powered solutions where expected outputs may be probabilistic rather than deterministic.
• Performance and load testing experience.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent qualification.
• Experience within customer service or contact centre environments.
• Background in automotive, manufacturing, or other large-scale B2C organisations.
• Additional European languages, particularly German.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

• Fluent English is mandatory and will be assessed during the recruitment process.
• The consultant will interact daily with stakeholders across multiple countries and business units. Strong spoken and written communication skills are therefore essential. Candidates who do not demonstrate professional fluency in English will not be considered, regardless of technical expertise.
