QA Engineer (Data)

Department: Marketplace Efficiency Cluster

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Kazakhstan


We’re looking for a QA Engineer focused on manual testing of complex operational systems and data pipelines, with a strong analytical mindset and curiosity for how systems behave end-to-end.
You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams, validating critical flows that impact core business metrics. The role involves testing backend services, ETL pipelines, and system integrations, where precision and understanding of data are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform deep manual testing of backend systems, ETL pipelines, and integrations
  • Validate data correctness using SQL across services, APIs, and storage layers
  • Design and maintain test cases and testing strategies for complex workflows
  • Investigate issues across the stack (logs, DBs, APIs) and isolate root causes
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to ensure data reliability and system integrity
  • Contribute to improving QA processes and testing coverage

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong experience in manual QA of backend or data-heavy systems
  • Solid SQL skills for data validation and debugging
  • Ability to reason about data flows, edge cases, and system behavior
  • Understanding of APIs, databases, and debugging tools
  • Comfortable working with logs and basic scripting (bash/zsh)
  • Analytical thinking — experience with data/analytics domain is a strong plus
  • Fast learner with a flexible, problem-solving mindset


Nice to have
Experience with ETL pipelines or data platforms

  • Some automation experience
  • Python for testing and/or data validation
  • Mobile testing (iOS/Android)
  • Familiarity with Jira, Git, Allure and test management tools
