The Role:
We are growing our engineering team and looking for a QA Engineer to join us as our first dedicated quality assurance hire. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we approach quality from the ground up - building processes, frameworks, and a culture of quality acros a small, collaborative team.
You’ll work closely with a team of developers as well as colleagues across the business to test a product built on C# and React, covering everything from API and backend logic through to UI and end-to-end workflows. You’ll be comfortable writing automated tests and equally at ease writing clear, thorough manual test scripts.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
Test Automation
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for C# backend services (unit, integration, and API-level tests)
- Build and maintain automated UI and end-to-end tests for our React frontend
- Select and champion appropriate testing frameworks and tooling
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
- Maintain test coverage metrics and report on quality trends over time
Manual Testing
- Write and maintain clear, structured manual test scripts and test plans
- Execute manual exploratory and regression testing across features and releases
- Document defects clearly with reproducible steps, expected vs actual outcomes, and supporting evidence
- Collaborate with developers and product stakeholders on acceptance criteria and definition of done
Quality & Process
- Introduce and embed QA best practices across the engineering team
- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and review sessions as the QA voice
- Work with developers to shift testing left – catching issues earlier in the development cycle
- Maintain and improve test documentation, including regression libraries and test data management
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
Technical:
- 3-5 years of QA experience in a software development environment
- Solid experience writing automated tests for C# applications
- Experience with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks and testing them
- Comfortable working with REST APIs – experience using tools such as Postman or similar for API testing
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines including GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps
- Experience with source control using Git
QA practice:
- Strong ability to write detailed, maintainable manual test scripts and test plans
- Solid understanding of testing types: functional, regression, exploratory, UI, integration, and smoke testing
- Experience tracking and managing defects using a bug tracking tool
- Methodical approach to root cause analysis and issue documentation
Soft skills:
- Clear and concise communicator - able to articulate quality risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-starter who can operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy
- Collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with developers
- Detail-oriented, with a passion for quality and a drive to improve processes
- Curious and committed to continuous learning – keeps up to date with emerging QA practices, testing tools, automation approaches and product technologies, and uses this learning to improve testing quality and ways of working
Brownie points:
- Experience in a SaaS product environment
- Familiarity with performance or load testing tools
