Position:
QA Automation Engineer

Role Overview

The Automation Developer is responsible for identifying
opportunities to improve quality assurance through automation and for
designing, developing, and executing automated tests that validate application
functionality. This role works closely with QA analysts, developers,
architects, and product owners to ensure high‑quality, reliable software
delivery in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Identify
  opportunities for automation within software development and testing
  processes.
• 
  Design,
  develop, and execute automated QA tests using scripts that validate
  application functionality.
• 
  Design,
  develop, and maintain test automation scripts and frameworks.
• 
  Utilize
  enterprise test automation and performance testing tools.
• 
  Work
  collaboratively with QA analysts, software developers, architects, and
  product owners to resolve quality issues.
• 
  Review
  and continuously improve test automation approaches, standards, and best
  practices.
• 
  Analyze
  testing and DevOps processes and recommend improvements.
• 
  Provide
  technical support for test automation tools.
• 
  Participate
  in sprint retrospectives to identify QA improvement opportunities.
• 
  Evaluate
  automation tools and processes and provide recommendations aligned with
  best practices.
• 
  Translate
  functional, business, and system requirements into effective test planning
  and execution.
• 
  Create
  test data, analyze results, perform re‑testing, and support user
  acceptance activities.
• 
  Ensure
  automated testing assets are documented, source‑controlled, and supported
  by disaster recovery practices.

Qualifications

Public Sector Experience

• 
  5+
  years of experience working with federal, provincial, or broader public‑sector
  environments.
• 
  Knowledge
  of public‑sector enterprise architecture artifacts, methodologies, and
  governance processes.
• 
  Experience
  supporting large, complex public‑sector IT initiatives, including health‑related
  projects.

QA, Automation & Testing Experience

• 
  7+
  years of experience in QA and test automation.
• 
  Strong
  experience designing, developing, and executing automated tests.
• 
  Experience
  with automation frameworks and performance testing tools.
• 
  Experience
  testing COTS solutions, web applications, APIs, integration components,
  and reporting solutions.
• 
  Experience
  with security, performance, accessibility, and BI testing.
• 
  Ability
  to create complete testing documentation including strategies, plans,
  scripts, and reports.

Logging, Tracking & Defect Reporting

• 
  7+
  years of experience identifying, documenting, and tracking defects and
  risks.
• 
  Experience
  maintaining defect logs, prioritizing test execution, and participating in
  walkthroughs and triage sessions.
