This role is part of Alcon's Quality & Regulatory Affairs function, a team that ensures our products are in compliance with global, local, and internal regulations and meet the strictest standards of quality as we help people see brilliantly.

The Associate I, Quality Control Lab – Chemistry (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is responsible for performing chemical analyses, maintaining laboratory operations, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements. This role supports product release by ensuring all materials meet required quality and manufacturing standards.

Specifics Include:

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process, finished goods, and stability samples

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment

  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, cGxP/GMP standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Accurately collect, analyze, interpret, and report test results

  • Maintain thorough and compliant documentation (GDP/GMP practices)

  • Support laboratory investigations, including investigative testing and root cause analysis

  • Review and verify data generated by peers for accuracy and completeness

  • Update and maintain SOPs, analytical test procedures (ATPs), and lab documentation

  • Support environmental monitoring and utility sampling as required

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, safety practices, and ISO 14001 environmental compliance

  • Train team members in procedures, methods, and best practices as needed

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

  • Work Hours: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM CST – 5:00 PM CST

  • Travel Requirements: 0%

  • Location: Onsite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field

  • Experience in Quality Control or regulated laboratory environments

  • Knowledge of systems such as LIMS, TrackWise, or Metasys
