We are looking for a mid-level Python Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will work on the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and working in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python

• Build scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful and/or event-driven services

• Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and solution architects

• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code

• Contribute to system design discussions and technical decision-making

• Participate in code reviews and support best engineering practices

• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing systems

• Support deployments and production systems where required

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software development experience

• Strong proficiency in Python

• Experience building backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django

• Solid understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture patterns

• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows

• Experience writing unit and integration tests

• Understanding of basic cloud concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Nice to Have

• Experience with microservices or distributed systems

• Experience with GCP Native Development would be highly preferred

• Exposure to Docker and containerised environments

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

• Experience in Telecoms, Financial Services, or other regulated environments

• Knowledge of messaging or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)
