Job Description

This Product Development Engineer - PVT PowerTrain and UnderBody Systems Engineer position is the co-located Product Development Engineer in the Cuautitlan plant with the vehicle production team. PVT Engineers main responsibility resides in addressing customer concerns from the product standpoint.

• Ensure vehicles are built to design intent

• Improve Product quality

• Provide Technical support in the field

• Support implementation of Product Engineering changes

• Minor launches and added starters

What you'll do...

  • On Site in CSAP Plant México (Cuautitlán, México)

  • Deliver Vehicle Line/Functional quality objectives (Quality and Cost KPI)
  • Handle the ongoing Product Development and improve the quality of the Mach E vehicle
  • Review/Bin/Analyze External Data from Quality systems
  • Manage quality database for issue tracking and resolution
  • Lead and coordinate issue containments/resolution with PD, Supplier and Production teams
  • Lead and Support management and technical reviews as needed
  • Work with Quality functional groups to identify roadmap opportunities and key external improvement actions
  • Evaluate external issues and drive changes in internal measurement system and/or containment actions
  • Control and maintain glidepath and projections for area of responsibility
  • Utilize JIRA to Initiate, track and contribute to issue resolution
  • Utilize quality tools and Connected Vehicle data to identify trends, details and data to support external concerns
  • Assist in troubleshooting/repair of units
  • Drive issue resolution with manufacturing/suppliers for internal/external concerns
  • Use internal metrics to correlate and contain external issues
  • Use and understand internal measurement systems to test and detect internal and external issues
  • Support Manage-the-Change meetings and procedures
  • Lead plant trials for Engineering Changes, Cost Reduction actions and Supplier Requested changes
  • Lead Implementation of Product Engineering changes
  • Lead issue resolution of Design issues affecting External or Internal quality metrics
  • Support product reviews and issues from vehicle fleet evaluation
  • Lead vehicle, parts and process sign-off
  • Bill of Materials maintenance
  • Review, analyze, reject or approve process or product deviations
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalency of working experience
  • 2+ years of experience as Product/Quality Engineer in PowerTrain or Chassis Related Fields.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and component's function
  • Automotive Industry related experience
  • Great communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work well with people, specifically in assembly plant environment
  • English proficiency

Even better, you may have...

  • Master of Science Degree in Mechanical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or closely related field
  • 4+ years of experience as Product/Quality Engineer in PowerTrain or Chassis Related Fields.
  • 6 Sigma training is preferred (Black Belt or Green Belt Certified)
  • Experience working in Quality Data Systems and or Product Engineering Data Bases (AI Based).
  • Experience with vehicle Diagnostics Systems and Communications Protocols networking in-vehicle.
  • Understanding of automotive operations and manufacturing processes
