Location: Olathe, Kansas

Department: Final Assembly / PVA

Hours: Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 3:30pm. Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm. Every other Friday off. Occasional extension of typical hours may be necessary, depending upon business needs.

JOB SUMMARY

The PVA Conformal Coating Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining PVA conformal coating equipment used to apply protective coating to printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). This position ensures coating processes meet quality standards and production schedules while maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate PVA conformal coating equipment according to work instructions, visual aids, and process documentation.
• Verify machine programs, coating material, dispense valves, spray patterns, conveyor settings, and cure requirements.
• Load and unload PCB assemblies while maintaining product traceability and preventing coating contamination.
• Inspect coated assemblies for defects such as insufficient coverage, excessive coating, bubbles, masking issues, bridging, and coating on keep-out areas.
• Identify and report process abnormalities, equipment issues, material concerns, or quality defects.
• Perform routine light maintenance, cleaning, and verification of PVA coating equipment and related tooling.
• Follow ESD, IPC, safety, chemical handling, ventilation, and quality requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and 6S activities.
• Perform masking, demasking, touch-up, inspection, and related PCB assembly support operations as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read and follow work instructions, BOMs, drawings, and production documentation
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter production information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Experience operating PVA conformal coating equipment or similar automated dispensing/coating systems.
• IPC-A-610 certification, knowledge of IPC workmanship standards, or experience inspecting conformal coating quality.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, coating, masking, inspection, or chemical handling.

• Ability to recognize common conformal coating, masking, and PCB assembly defects.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet production goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements while handling PCB assemblies, masking materials, and coating-related tools.
