Job Summary

The Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in our supply chain team, ensuring we have the right materials in the right place at the right time. This position is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and managing inventory for our building materials locations while maintaining strong vendor relationships and helping deliver on our promise of excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate purchasing of building materials and supplies based on inventory needs, sales trends, and project timelines.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor inventory levels and work with store and warehouse staff to ensure optimal stock availability.
• Review purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams to forecast demand and respond to customer needs.
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers, materials, and market opportunities.
• Support product returns, warranty claims, and vendor performance tracking.
• Maintain purchasing records and help improve procurement processes through reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management—experience in construction, retail, or building materials preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with purchasing or inventory software (e.g., Epicor, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
• High attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
• Knowledge of construction or building materials is a strong plus.
• Self-starter with a willingness to learn and contribute to a growing team.

Compensation: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
