The NPI Purchasing & Localization Team Lead is responsible for leading procurement activities that support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and supply chain localization initiatives. This role ensures the timely availability of materials, drives supplier development and localization strategies, enhances cost competitiveness, and mitigates supply chain risks. The position plays a critical role in supporting business growth, product launches, quality objectives, and continuity of supply through effective cross-functional collaboration and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Support

  • Lead procurement activities for NPI programs from concept development through mass production.
  • Ensure material readiness to support engineering builds, EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot runs, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Proactively manage and resolve material shortages, long lead-time items, and supply chain risks to prevent program delays.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Planning, Quality, and Commodity Management teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers, manufacturing sites, internal stakeholders, and customers regarding NPI material requirements.
  • Monitor NPI kit readiness and provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and escalation reports to management.

Localization Strategy and Execution

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase local and regional sourcing opportunities.
  • Identify and drive localization initiatives for customer-specified, strategic, and high-value components.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) and Engineering teams to qualify, develop, and onboard new suppliers.
  • Track localization projects, cost savings, implementation timelines, and overall business impact.
  • Support dual-sourcing strategies and continuity-of-supply initiatives to strengthen supply chain resilience.

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers to support business objectives.
  • Lead supplier business reviews, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage supplier escalations related to quality, delivery, capacity, and service performance.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, contracts, and supply agreements to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.

Cost Management

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through localization, alternative sourcing strategies, value engineering, and supplier negotiations.
  • Support annual productivity goals and cost-saving targets aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct cost analysis, market benchmarking, and supplier quotation evaluations to ensure competitiveness and value.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of NPI Buyers and Purchasing Specialists.
  • Establish performance objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and development plans for the team.
  • Coach team members on sourcing strategies, negotiation techniques, supplier relationship management, and risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management principles.
  • Understanding of supply chain management, inventory planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, including Oracle and iPro.
  • Familiarity with commodity management, contract negotiations, and cost management.
  • Understanding of customer relationship management and business operations.
  • This is a full-time, onsite position reporting to the Sta. Rosa Laguna site.
