Purity Bakeries Ltd., a leading manufacturer of bread and bakery products, is seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic, self-motivated individual to join our team as Purchasing Officer- Logistics. This position reports to the Operations Manager

THE ROLE:

The Purchasing Officer – Logistics’ primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The purchasing of ingredients, materials, packaging, and supplies, especially those sourced internationally. This will also include the purchase of machinery, equipment, spares, tools and all technical functions of the business.
  • Coordinate logistics and shipping schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods. (this includes all shipments whether local or foreign, while working to optimize cost and delivery requirements). This may also include the logistics, shipping and purchase of services, technical goods, equipment, spares, tools, etc. and all purchases as directed by the operations managers.
  • Track and monitor shipments, liaising with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents, to bring these items to the destination effectively, efficiently and with thorough feedback and communication to involved parties.
  • Ensuring all regulatory, food safety and required quality standards, regulations and inspections are properly completed and done in an effective manner to ensure completion of the required goals.
  • Assist with inventory checks, stock movements, and documentation. Full completion of monthly and yearly stock audits (on time and fully compliant), as well as all other audits and inventory procedures as specified.
  • As Purchasing Officer, the efficacy, thoroughness and accuracy of all department related functions is paramount.
  • Provide required data, analysis and information required for decision making in production, stores, purchasing, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized records of purchases, shipments, and inventory levels. All records, files and documentation should be fully compliant to company and group policies and must allow for ease of financial compliance.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing costs, and all related initiatives.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and operations teams to understand supply-chain needs. Coordinate activities, events, projects and related works to ensure that they are executed in an effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Associate’s degree or diploma in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 2 to 3+ years of experience in a purchasing or logistics role preferred.
  • Experience and/or training with inventory systems and procurement software is an asset.
  • Excellent customer-oriented approach and related training.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing operational needs
  • Systematic and process-oriented approach to department building
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed.
