Job Description

Our client, a leading company within the shipbuilding and repair industry, is currently seeking an experienced and organised Purchasing Officer to join its operations in Malta.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities, supplier relationships, and purchasing processes to ensure efficient and timely supply of materials and services required for company operations.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Manage the full procurement process for materials and services.
• 
  Issue, monitor, and follow up on purchase orders.
• 
  Track deliveries, send supplier reminders, and maintain supplier communication.
• 
  Research and evaluate new suppliers in collaboration with the technical department.
• 
  Maintain item master data and purchasing conditions within the company ERP system.
• 
  Support negotiations regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual terms.
• 
  Collaborate with warehouse, production, and administration teams to ensure smooth material flow.
• 
  Ensure procurement activities are carried out efficiently and in line with company procedures.

Requirements

• 
  Technical or economic diploma/degree.
• 
  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar purchasing or procurement role.
• 
  Good command of Microsoft Office applications.
• 
  Excellent spoken and written English communication skills; Italian will be considered an asset.
• 
  Strong negotiation and organisational skills.
• 
  Detail-oriented with a results-driven mindset.
• 
  Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• 
  Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
