Job Description

This role is ideal for someone with purchasing, procurement, finance, or administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment supporting critical infrastructure, maintenance, and construction operations.

As a key support function within the procurement team, you will play an important role in ensuring purchasing activities are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with business requirements across major projects and operational programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Procurement Manager the Purchasing Officer will provide transactional and systems support to Buyers across the business, helping manage procurement workflows, purchase orders, vendor onboarding, and reporting activities.

You will work closely with project delivery teams, procurement specialists, and Accounts Payable to ensure smooth end-to-end purchasing operations within JD Edwards (JDEGS), InEight, and associated procurement systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise, manage, amend, and close Purchase Orders within JD Edwards and/or InEight
  • Support Buyers with day-to-day procurement administration and transactional activities
  • Maintain procurement registers, reports, logs, and databases
  • Assist with vendor onboarding activities
  • Monitor and triage requisitions through Service Now
  • Ensure purchase orders align with approved contracts, schedules, and commercial terms
  • Manage high-volume and time-critical PO processing for projects, shutdowns, and maintenance works
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing variances, and GR/IR mismatches
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable to support timely invoice processing
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and systems

About You

You will be highly organised, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment with multiple competing priorities.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, finance, or administration roles
  • Exposure to construction, utilities, infrastructure, or similar industries
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
  • Experience using ERP or procurement systems such as JD Edwards, InEight, or similar
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively within a team
