As a Purchasing Officer in our procurement department, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating the best quality goods and services for our company at the most competitive prices. You will play a key role in ensuring that our procurement processes are efficient, cost-effective, and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best quality goods and services at the most competitive prices.
2. Review and analyze purchase requisitions, identify suitable suppliers, and prepare purchase orders.
3. Monitor and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
4. Resolve any issues or discrepancies with orders, invoices, or deliveries.
5. Maintain and update supplier information, including price lists, catalogs, and contracts.
6. Evaluate supplier performance and conduct supplier audits as needed.
7. Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the procurement function.
8. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
9. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, operations, and finance, to support company objectives and project timelines.
10. Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in procurement.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or similar role, preferably in a mining or heavy industry sector.
2. Strong knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.
3. Experience in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best value for the company.
4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other procurement software.
9. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certification in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
2. Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
3. Familiarity with contract management and supplier relationship management.
4. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
