Job Description

The Senior Purchasing Leader will recruit, develop and mentor a team of Buyers for this newly created business unit in Vietnam, to procure and deliver all materials necessary to meet business objectives, in strict accordance to SQDC and business policies.

The Senior Purchasing Leader will oversee all purchasing activities across the HVDC Transformer Business Line in Vietnam, driving the purchasing strategy and maturing the supply chain.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Purchasing Leader is responsible for:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to the purchasing team.
  • Strategic focus of the function including implementation of improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Suppliers.
  • Ensure all functional processes are compliant and effective.
  • Ensure high levels of supplier performance by managing safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while also championing continuous improvement for the department.
  • Identify risks to supply continuity and take proactive measures to minimize the impact on production.
  • Utilize the company's ERP system (SAP) to ensure the team effectively manage parts availability in alignment with scheduled demand, addressing the impact of any schedule changes.
  • Provide purchasing and commercial input to cross-functional teams, contributing confidently to company goals through effective teamwork.
  • Report procurement key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze data to understand variances.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills to identify root causes and prevent the recurrence of supply-related issues.
  • Utilise experience in assessing supplier capability and capacity in manufacturing and supply

Desired Profile and Experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced strategic purchasing or supply chain role.
  • Minimum 10 years Purchasing background within a manufacturing environment, and managing a team
  • The ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Broad experience with MRP systems (SAP)
  • Excellent time management and coordination skills, rapid responsiveness
  • Dynamic and flexible approach of thinking
  • An accomplished relationship-builder
  • Energetic, forward-thinking individual
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness (Pay Terms, Warranty, LD’s)
  • Pro-active and problem-solving attitude
