The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading a team of buyers and specialists to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials to support production. This role operates within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment, balancing supplier relationship management with internal operational efficiency. The incumbent acts as a bridge between the customer’s requirements and the global supply base, ensuring that material shortages are mitigated and inventory targets are met.
Team Leadership: Provides direct supervision to a team of purchasing professionals. This includes setting annual objectives, conducting performance reviews, coaching for development, and managing daily workloads.
Supply Continuity: Proactively manages material supply to prevent production downtime. This involves tracking excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory and negotiating with suppliers on pricing and lead times.
Collaboration: Acts as a liaison with the Business Office, Production, and Planning teams to communicate shipment plans and production readiness.
Process Improvement: Identifies enhancements for SCM (Supply Chain Management) business processes and leads the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies.
Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of product cost structures, asset management techniques, and the impact of procurement on the site's P&L.
Environment: Primary work is performed in a professional office setting within a manufacturing facility.
Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel (approximately 10%) may be required to visit supplier sites or other Celestica locations.
Industry: Experience in the EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) or High-Tech industry is highly valued.
Certifications: APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) certifications are considered a strong asset.
