Job Description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Purchasing Intern position. As a Purchasing Intern, a typical day might include the following:

  • Assist the purchasing team with the procurement of components, materials, supplies and equipment for factory operation, consistent with quality and delivery expectations.

  • Assist in the management of open purchase orders, including regular professional communication with SEL’s suppliers.

  • Provide support for the assurance of on time delivery of procured material by assisting in the management of purchase order confirmations, expedites and past due purchase orders.

  • Assist the purchasing team with department objectives and projects.

  • Provide support for the issue and review of quotes and bids.

This job might be for you if:

  • You are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or management information systems.

  • You have an understanding of electronics technology, manufacturing methods, and total quality processes.

  • Possess strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

  • Can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • Have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

  • Have background check results satisfactory to SEL.

  • Have negative drug test result(s).

Pay Range Data

($20.00-$24.25)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
