About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and analytical Purchasing Coordinator to support our purchasing team. This role is critical in ensuring we maintain optimal inventory levels while responding to market conditions and customer demand.
You will leverage data, systems, and market insights to support purchasing decisions, improve reporting, and enhance overall supply chain visibility.
This position is based in Niagara Falls, ON, with a planned transition to Welland, ON in the near future.
A Day in the Life
No two days are exactly the same in this role, but here’s what you can typically expect:
• Start your day by reviewing inventory reports and identifying any gaps, overstock positions, or urgent material requirements
• Analyze purchasing data and trends to support upcoming buying decisions and flag potential risks or opportunities
• Connect with internal teams (sales, operations, logistics) to understand demand changes or upcoming project needs
• Review incoming materials and ensure accuracy against purchase orders, resolving any discrepancies with vendors
• Work on updating reports or dashboards to give leadership better visibility into inventory levels and spending
• Monitor market activity, such as pricing shifts or supply constraints, and assess potential impacts to the business
• Collaborate with suppliers to confirm pricing, delivery timelines, and order details
• Support purchase order creation and help keep procurement activities running smoothly
• Spend time improving processes, whether it’s refining a report, tightening up a workflow, or finding a more efficient way to track data
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing data analysis with real-world problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and analyze inventory levels, forecasts, and historical usage to inform purchasing decisions
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the steel market and supply chain
• Develop and maintain a structured approach to track and audit rebate programs
• Build dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility into purchasing activities and inventory performance
• Review and standardize supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
• Conduct risk assessments of mill partners and recommend strategic adjustments
• Ensure accuracy of incoming materials and maintain integrity of supply processes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors
• Support purchase order creation and procurement activities
• Participate in supplier negotiations to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and delivery

Qualifications & Experience
• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing, data analysis, or a related role
• Strong SQL skills for reporting and data analysis
• Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or similar tools
• Experience with databases, reporting, and financial analysis is an asset
• Experience with ASA or Eniteo is considered an asset
