Job Description

SCOPE AND PURPOSE:

To ensure the company operates smoothly by securing necessary materials and services at the best possible terms and conditions, in line with the relevant commodity strategy.

To guarantee managing supplier relationships and market dynamics, representing the Purchasing Organization in Platform Meetings, and collaborating with the Platform Team to ensure the efficient launch of new products,

analyzing requirements, scouting suppliers, negotiating deals, awarding contracts, ensuring quality standards, timely delivery, optimizing costs, promoting sustainability, and mitigating supply chain risks.

Ensures that the company operates smoothly by securing necessary materials and services at the best possible terms and conditions and that New Projects are completed on time, within budget and quality standards, in line with the Purchasing strategy.

The Purchasing Buyer's main activity areas include:

- Purchasing Goods and Services: sources and negotiates terms & conditions for goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational requirements, considering cost, quality, technical, and delivery targets.- Supplier Management: builds and maintains effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring a professional, ethical, and consistent approach.- Market Analysis: monitors overall market trends, competitor strategies, and suppliers to identify risks and opportunities.- Cost Management: provides analysis on costs, review cost reduction activities, identifying and negotiating opportunities to improve prices or overall total cost of ownership. Monitors and controls project costs to stay within budget, implementing design to cost and resourcing activities when needed.- Compliance: ensures compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures during supplier negotiations and contract awarding.- Performance Monitoring and Risk Assessment: keeps track of performance of suppliers and procurement activities, identifying potential risks in the supply chain, and developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success throughout the entire project lifetime.- Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution: coordinates activities with the project team to ensure that the procured goods meet the required quality standards. Addresses any supply problems that may impact business operations and to resolve issues related to price, quality, delivery, or invoices.- Supplier Identification and Selection: selects suppliers in line with the Purchasing strategy or to identify new ones if not available, who can meet the project’s requirements in terms of quality, cost, and delivery time.- Contract Management: is responsible for drafting, reviewing and managing contracts with suppliers (such as NDA, Nomination Letter, Letter of Intent, Development Agreement).- Production Readiness: supervises suppliers’ industrialization phase and support logistics to ensure timely delivery of prototypes and PPAP samples.- Sustainable Supplier Selection: chooses suppliers who adhere to sustainable practices, such as reducing carbon footprint (renewable energy, eco-friendly materials, etc.), and ensure fair labor practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a relevant function.
  • Preferred background in the automotive industry, with hands-on experience managing commodities such as steel, aluminum castings, friction materials, fasteners, rubber components, and related categories.
  • Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated drive, business acumen, and a results‑oriented mindset.
  • Analytical thinker with a systematic and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships both within the organization and with external stakeholders.
