Job Responsibilities:

The Purchasing Analyst will support Indirect Purchasing Category Leads across MRO, Services, CapEx and Logistics. This role is responsible for transforming fragmented and inconsistent plant-level data into standardized, actional insights that drive sourcing strategies, RFP development, and supplier selection. This individual will partner closely with each category manager and plant teams to improve data visibility, support sourcing events, and build analytical capabilities that enable better and more efficient decision making across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Collect, cleanse, and standardize indirect spend data from multiple plants and systems to ensure accuracy and consistency

· Assist in developing procedures for divisional submissions of purchasing and supply chain data, ensuring timeliness and reliability

· Partner with divisional team members to resolve data gaps and improve data accuracy and consistency

· Develop scalable templates and processes for continuous data collection and validation, improving data accuracy and efficiency

· Coordinate directly with suppliers to request and organize their own data about Magna purchases

· Support RFP development by structuring and consolidating data into clear and actionable bid packages

· Analyze supplier responses and build pricing comparisons and scenario models

· Partner with Category Managers to evaluate options and support award recommendations

· Participate in and support supplier negotiations as required

· Work as lead with designated Category Managers to perform spend analysis and identify trends, risks, process improvements and cost savings initiatives

· Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to track spending and performance

· Improve data infrastructure to enable more advanced analytics and forecasting

· Provide research and feedback on software and databases to assist in data collection and analysis

· Monitor market trends (e.g., transportation, key commodities) and develop insights for leadership

· Collaborate with category leaders, plant teams, and suppliers to support sourcing initiatives

· Travel to plant locations to understand operations, collect data, and identify improvement opportunities

· Support other managers in their requests for data and interpretation

· Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing & Supply Chain, Operations, Information Technology

Work Experience: 3 to 4+ years of experience in Purchasing & Supply Chain, with strong preference for candidates who have operations and data analytics expertise, including advanced data collection, dashboard development, and reporting

Skills/Special Knowledge: Mathematics, Statistics, MIS, Finance/Accounting.

Knowledge of cost modeling and information systems experience highly preferred.

Strong PC skills with programming ability required, along with experience using data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Python, Tableau, JMP, and Microsoft Office.

Professional certifications such as C.P.M., CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD are a plus.

Strong professional communication skills, both written and oral, are required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Typical office environment with a normal amount of sitting or standing. Must have average mobility to move around the office and perform standard computer-based tasks. Position may require up to 20% domestic and/or international travel to company divisions and suppliers as needed.
