Purchasing Agent
Cayman Islands or Miami, Florida | $50,000 - $55,000 USD
We are searching for a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to manage the sourcing and procurement of produce, dairy, and fresh goods for the company's distribution operations. This role can be based full-time in Miami, reporting to the Operations Manager, or full-time in the Cayman Islands, reporting to the Purchasing Manager. Candidates based in Miami must hold a valid legal working authorization in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available for U.S.-based employment. Candidates based in the Cayman Islands are eligible for work permit assistance.
KEY RESPOSIBILITIES
- Source, negotiate, and procure produce, dairy, and fresh goods from local and regional suppliers to meet quality and cost standards
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, evaluating performance and identifying new sourcing opportunities
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the operations team to ensure timely and accurate stock replenishment
- Track market pricing trends for perishable categories and adjust procurement strategy accordingly
- Ensure all purchased goods meet the company's quality specifications and food safety requirements
- Process purchase orders accurately and maintain up-to-date procurement records and documentation
- Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve supply issues
- Support cost control initiatives by identifying efficiencies and alternative sourcing options where appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or buying role within the foodservice, hospitality, or food distribution industry
- Strong knowledge of produce, dairy, and fresh goods categories, including quality standards and market pricing
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in procurement or inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across operations, warehouse, and logistics teams
- Candidates based in Miami must hold a valid legal working authorization in the United States
- Candidates based in the Cayman Islands are eligible for work permit assistance
