Job Description

About the role

We are looking for a Buyer specialising in piping and HVAC systems to join our procurement team in Turku. In this role, you’ll work closely with the category-responsible Vendor Manager within the EPC Division.

This is a full-time, permanent position, ideally starting in August or after the summer.

You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, projects, and suppliers, helping ensure that the right materials and equipment are available at the right time — and that they meet both technical requirements and project expectations.

This is a hands-on role in a project-driven environment, where your contribution directly supports the progress of our international projects. The role may also include occasional travel, for example to supplier or project locations.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll take responsibility for procurement activities related to piping and HVAC packages. Your day-to-day work will involve working closely with internal teams and external partners to keep things moving and aligned with project timelines.

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source and procure piping and HVAC materials, equipment, and services

  • Review technical documentation such as specifications, material requisitions, P&IDs and drawings

  • Request, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations

  • Support negotiations related to pricing, lead times, payment terms, and delivery conditions

  • Issue purchase orders and follow up on supplier confirmations

Supplier Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new potential partners

  • Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness

  • Work together with suppliers to resolve technical and commercial topics

  • Support supplier qualification and audit activities when needed

Project Coordination

  • Align procurement activities with project timelines and priorities

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, project teams, production, warehouse, and logistics

  • Follow up on deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed

  • Support expediting activities, particularly for critical or long-lead items

Technical & Compliance

  • Ensure purchased materials meet class requirements, customer specifications, and relevant marine standards

  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements

  • Review and manage documentation such as certificates, approvals, and technical datasheets

  • Support inspection and quality control activities when required

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Monitor procurement budgets and identify opportunities to optimise costs

  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP systems

  • Prepare procurement updates, including status reports and delivery tracking

You’ll also collaborate with the Vendor Management side in topics related to subcontracting interfaces, while your main focus remains on material purchasing and supplier coordination.

What working in this role looks like

You’ll be working in a dynamic, project-based environment where plans evolve and priorities can shift. This means juggling multiple open items, following up actively, and staying close to both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

At the same time, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own areas and develop your expertise within procurement and project delivery.

What we’re looking for

  • A relevant background in procurement, supply chain, engineering, or a related field

  • Previous experience in procurement or project-related purchasing tasks

  • Confidence working with technical documentation and supplier communication

  • A structured and detail-oriented way of working

  • The ability to collaborate across different teams and follow things through

  • Good communication skills in English

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a role where coordination and communication are key.
