We are looking for a Purchaserto join our Soda Creek division, located in Williams Lake, British Columbia. Our Soda Creek Division safely and sustainably produces over 110 million board feet of lumber per year for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Certificate in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Supply Chain Procurement Certificate or Warehouse Certificate through the Supply Chain Management Association (ASCM), or equivalent.
  • Experience in purchasing and maintaining inventory in support of maintenance and operations
  • 3-5+ years' experience maintaining large inventory, focusing on inventory optimization and accurate cycle counting.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, the application and maintenance of forest industry equipment, and certification for transportation of dangerous materials.
  • General understanding of accounting and strong negotiating skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for the small details.
  • Proven experience in being a valued member of an inventory and purchasing environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Experience driving a forklift, or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with JDE, Coupa and RMAs platforms, an asset.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct inventory and non-inventory buying activities, including the receiving, warehousing, issuing and analysis of inventory and non-stores related materials required in the operation.
  • Contribute to the management of the division’s materials and operating supplies inventory level and accuracy.
  • Work within budgets, meet deadlines and ensure that materials and supplies are both cost effective and available when needed.
  • Negotiate fair and equitable pricing and by encouraging good relations with suppliers, contractors, and sales representatives
  • Conduct the 100% cycle counting program for the division and proactively identifying and reconciling overstock.
  • Responsible for collaborating with planning and maintenance to optimize inventory usage and remove dead stock.
  • Ensure appropriate internal approvals are obtained from end users for purchases and records are kept for audit purposes.
  • Partner with departments across the mill to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Operate in a safe manner in accordance to work safe rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
