Island Gold District

Our Ontario mining operation is a dynamic underground environment focused on safe, reliable, and efficient production. The site offers a collaborative work culture where safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement are prioritized.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform workplace inspection and ensure area is compliant with standards.
  • If required, correct, or report any deficiencies identified during the workplace inspection to the supervisor.
  • Perform general housekeeping of sump areas.
  • Fill out a monthly inspection sheet for sumps and drain holes.
  • Inspect signage and fencing. Repair/replace if required.
  • Inspect pumps for proper operations. Replace pump if required.
  • If required, adjust height of pump and float balls.
  • Clean pumps and cat walks.
  • Clean sumps containing pumps using the Normet sludge pump.
  • Inspect pump hoist for proper operation.
  • If equipped, inspect catwalk and guardrails. Report any deficiencies to a supervisor.
  • Inspect drain holes for cleanliness and clean if required.
  • Inspect drain hole insert. Replace if damaged.
  • Clean around drain holes with backhoe.
  • Inspect drain holes for proper identification and correct if required.
  • Inspect drain holes for sweep pick and chain. Plan for these items if not present.
  • Change out defected pumps and ensure proper rotation.
  • Ensure defective pumps are washed prior to being delivered to the warehouse.
  • Ensure we have an adequate supply of pumps on site.

  • Ensure defective pumps are sent out for repairs.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Working on pipes U/G (air, water, and dewatering).
  • Safely operate scoop.
  • Muck sumps using a scoop.
  • Safely operate tractor with basket.
  • Safely operate scissor truck.
  • Safely operator a boom truck.
  • Miscellaneous work identified by the supervisor within the employees’ training.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Grade 12 education preferred.
  • 3 years’ underground experience would be preferrable.
  • Accreditation in applicable U/G common core modules.
  • Good understanding of pumping system including pumps and sump set ups.
  • Strong Safety focus.
  • Self-motivated ability to work alone.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Working Conditions

  • Rotational or shift-based schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • 7 day on 7 day away schedule. 11.5 hours per day
  • Underground work environment

Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to underground conditions including noise, dust, heat, and confined spaces

Hourly Range Range:CAD [$33.80-$41.91]

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
