Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pump Repair and Maintenance
• Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and rebuild centrifugal, multistage, vertical turbine, positive displacement, submersible, and specialty pumps.
• Measure and document shaft runout, bearing fits, impeller clearances, and other critical dimensions.
• Replace bearings, seals, wear rings, sleeves, gaskets, packing, and other pump components.
• Perform alignment of pumps and drivers using laser or dial indicator methods.
• Troubleshoot vibration, leakage, overheating, low capacity, and other equipment performance issues.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis and document findings.
Shop Operations
• Operate shop equipment including hydraulic presses, lathes, mills, balancing equipment, and lifting devices.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, pump assembly prints, and OEM manuals.
• Maintain accurate repair records, inspection reports, and measurement sheets.
• Prepare equipment for performance testing and final inspection.
• Assist in estimating repair requirements and identifying replacement parts.
Field Service
• Perform onsite installation, removal, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pumps and rotating equipment.
• Coordinate with customers regarding equipment condition and repair recommendations.
• Conduct pump and driver alignments, startup assistance, and operational checks.
• Work occasional overtime and travel as required.
Safety and Quality
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Comply with lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, rigging, and lifting requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ensure repairs meet OEM specifications and company quality standards.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of industrial mechanical repair experience preferred.
• Experience repairing centrifugal pumps, rotating equipment, or similar industrial machinery.
• Ability to read precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely operate cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
