Job Description

  • Collect blood from flock as needed to review vaccination titer work, and flock certification every 14 weeks for NPIP purposes.
  • Assist pullet manager as directed.
  • Bleed pullets and breeder hens as scheduled.
  • Collect fat and blood samples prior to processing.
  • Prepare and deliver samples to State Lab.
  • Create weekly schedule.
  • Assist in the delivery of pullets to the Farm.
  • Adhere to animal welfare policy.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science or other closely related field of study preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • General knowledge and usage of computers, internet, and spreadsheet and word processing software.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
  • Exposure to damp, wet, and cold environments.
  • Work around live and/or raw animal odors.
