About the Role:
We are hiring a seasoned Publicist to join our team. Candidates must have a passion for entertainment and the lifestyle space, and have proven success leading multiple creative, strategic publicity campaigns that deliver outstanding results. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a media relations, publicity or communications capacity required, in the entertainment or broadcast industry is preferred.
You will contribute by:
• Creative and strategic thinker that develops and executes comprehensive communications plans for designated series, ensuring alignment with Corus’ overall business strategies
• Lead publicity efforts including media pitching, coordinating and executing press junkets and influencer programs to further build awareness and audience for Corus’ Lifestyle networks, including but not limited to Home Network, Flavour Network and The HISTORY® Channel
• Excellent writing skills required. Oversees and drafts publicity support materials – including press releases, key message documents, press kits, presentations and reports as required
• Develop and manage relationships with internal stakeholders, production partners, international distributors and/or unit publicists to ensure delivery of appropriate promotional materials and effective execution of publicity strategy
• Cultivate strong working relationships with network talent/production partners and liaise with them to coordinate media interviews, public appearances, and profile building
• Develop and manage relationships with media locally, nationally, and internationally, in addition to relationships with social influencers
• Manage all event planning as it pertains to publicity initiatives within this portfolio
• Support issues/crises communications as required
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure innovative and fully integrated campaigns for priority networks and series
• Representing the Publicity team in cross-functional meetings and communicate strategy and results effectively to internal audiences
• Provide publicity support for other business priorities as required
• Spearhead or assist in special projects as they pertain to overall departmental initiatives
Skills and experience you will bring
• Undergraduate degree in PR / Communications
• Passionate and knowledgeable of Canadian broadcasting and media industries
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a media relations, publicity or communications capacity, preferably in the entertainment or broadcasting industry or at an agency
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with talent relations an asset
• Excellent strategic planning skills with a clear understanding of achieving the overall business goals
• A track-record of executing out-of-the-box ideas and securing strong, multi- platform media coverage
• Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Strong working relationships with entertainment and lifestyle media across print, TV, radio and online (websites, blogs, influencers)
• Detail oriented with the ability to work well under pressure, manage a high volume of work and multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and collaboration is a must
• Self-starter who is solutions-focused and results-driven
• Adaptable and flexible
• Strong technical skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MRP, CNW and Photoshop
