Publican (Venue Manager) | Roxby Downs Tavern
Lead one of South Australia’s best outback venues
Salary: $120,000 + superannuation + $20,000 regional allowance + bonus + onsite accommodation available
A landmark pub in the community of Roxby Downs.
This isn't just a "Manager" vacancy. We aren’t looking for someone to sit in a back office while the dust settles. We are looking for a REAL Publican - the kind of leader who knows that the best business decisions are often made over the bar top and that a cold schooner is a sacred ritual for a miner coming off a 12-hour shift.
The Roxby Downs Tavern is more than a building; it’s a landmark of South Australian hospitality. Situated in the heart of one of the world’s most unique mining hubs, this is a premium, multi-faceted destination where the red dirt meets great customer service.
This isn't a maintenance role; it is a build, shape, and lead opportunity. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning, team building, operational setup, execution of service, and be at the centre of the l ocal community and beyond, establishing The Roxby Downs Tavern as the premier outback destination in the state.
Why This Role is Different:
A day in the life of a Publican:
As Publican, you will have full accountability for the financial and operational success of the venue. You will be hands-on, visible, and deeply embedded in the day-to-day operations while maintaining strategic oversight of performance, culture and growth.
Inherent requirements:
This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.
About you:
You already know if this is for you. You’ve got the experience, the presence, and the pride it takes to own a pub like it’s been yours forever. You're not just running a venue - you're living the Publican life.
Hold current industry RSA, RSG and RP badge qualifications as per SA state requirements
This is a high-impact role for a leader who wants to build something significant, not just manage it.
If you are ready to lead South Australia’s premier outback pub and create a venue that sets the standard for the state, we want to hear from you.
The benefits are good too!
