The Office Manager provides high level administrative leadership across the department, ensuring consistent coordination in alignment with Public Works’ goals. This role requires sound discretion in personnel matters, including assessing candidates during hiring processes and preparing confidential documentation related to performance management, disciplinary actions, and separation procedures.
Daily responsibilities include supervising administrative staff, managing departmental workflows, and overseeing personnel processes for more than 250 employees across multiple divisions. The Office Manager ensures compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and administers key systems such as Workday while supporting the administrative components of OpenGov.
The Office Manager also plays a central role in departmental budget oversight by supervising the Budget Coordinator with development, monitoring, and reconciliation of budget activities. Additionally, the position serves as a trusted representative for the Director, helping maintain leadership continuity in their absence by exercising advanced management skills and independent judgment.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, with the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
Must demonstrate proficiency as measured by the department in computers, computer programs used by the county and communication both orally and in writing.
Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10’s and 100’s. Perform these operations using units of money, weight, measurement, volume, and distance.
Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date.
This position is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore ineligible for overtime pay.
