The City of Pine City is seeking a Public Works Mechanic! This hands-on, safety-sensitive position supports multiple departments; Streets, Water, Sewer, Cemetery, and Parks & Public Buildings while performing skilled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and fabrication on city vehicles, equipment, and tools. You’ll manage daily diagnostics, organize shop operations, maintain inventory, assist with equipment purchases, and help ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and ready for the community. The role includes a primarily Monday–Friday schedule with rotating on-call duties.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of mechanic experience, the ability to obtain a Class B license with air brake endorsement, strong communication skills, and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and safety standards. Experience with metalwork, shop tools, and regulatory guidelines is essential. MNDOT Safety Inspector Certification and post-secondary mechanic training are preferred.
