Job Location: Huston-Tillotson University - AUSTIN, TX 78702
Salary Range: $18.00 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
This position maintains library operations during the evening and on weekends.  Incumbent must be mature, dependable, able to work independently, and have good customer service skills.  Incumbent will be assisting students, faculty, and staff, in person, online, and on the phone. Able to assist in various departments in the library. Familiarity with Windows-based computer applications is required.  This position staffs the evening and weekend hours, so scheduling flexibility, and ability to work nights and weekends are a must. Will work approximately 18-20 hours per week.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Staffing the public services desk and helping patrons locate materials
- Charging and discharging materials using the library's web-based circulation system
- Monitoring the library facility
- Assisting patrons with database searches
- Answering reference and basic directional questions
- Assisting patrons with computers
- Shelving books and shelf-reading the collection
- Maintaining equipment (filling paper trays in the copiers & printers; reporting any malfunctions)
- Supervising student workers
- Routine maintenance
- Assisting with library projects
- Other duties assigned

Qualifications
- Previous library experience preferred but not required; graduate student preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Strong service attitude
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to evaluate the information needs of library users and correctly answer or refer questions to the appropriate persons
- Familiarity with electronic information resources, including online library databases, and evaluating Internet sources
- Ability to work independently
SUPERVISION
- This position reports to the Public Services Librarian and the Director of Library and Media Services.
SALARY RANGE
- $18.00 per hour
