What's The Role
The primary objective of Public Sector Sales Manager position on-site in Trindad is to develop an on-going Liberty Government/Public Sector business relationship with all assigned clients and provide solutions to their business needs. This role also provides training, coaching and development of Government/ Public Sector Account Managers.
What You'll Do
Client Strategy, Sales Execution & Relationship Management
- Achieves client objectives assigned by Liberty’s Management.
- Leads cross-functional sales and technical resources in pursuit of client solutions, exploiting all marketing resources and collateral.
- Selects the appropriate offerings and distribution channels that are designed to meet the client's business objectives and provide an optimum financial return to Liberty
- Maintain an effective business relationship with the client's management/decision making team.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities and developing solutions using the most effective approach.
- Accountable for total Net Promoter Score (NPS) or equivalent, market share, Liberty’s profit and revenue within the client base (assigned quota), and acts as the Liberty interface with focus on assigned accounts.
- Uses sales approaches (e.g. Miller Heiman, MEDDIC) and ensures accurate forecasting of transactions
- Understands the issues and makes trade-offs, when appropriate, to accommodate other team members.
- Directly plans programs and strategies and involves senior management when necessary.
Commercial, Financial & Contract Management
- Accountable for return-on-investment evaluations in client sales opportunities. Provides appropriate feedback to Liberty’s executives concerning client requirements.
- Assists, when required, in negotiating customer contracts involving others as necessary and helps ensure compliance by all parties (Liberty, customer, partner).
Sales Planning, Pipeline & Account Management
- Ensures that team maintains up to date account plans and major opportunity plans for all requested accounts.
- Ensures team members maintain accurate pipeline management, account plans, forecasts, opportunity strategies, and customer records within Salesforce.com.
Team Leadership, Performance & Talent Development
- Provides technical and business direction to less experienced professionals of the Government/ Public Sector Sales team
- Establishes clear performance expectations, monitors individual and team KPIs, and conducts regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development discussions.
- Identifies performance gaps and implements corrective action plans, coaching programs, and targeted development initiatives to improve productivity, capability, and results.
- Manages underperforming employees through structured performance improvement processes, ensuring appropriate documentation, regular feedback, accountability measures, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Recognizes and rewards high performance while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
- Supports talent development, succession planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-performing team members to ensure long-term organizational capability.
- Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to direct reports, enabling them to effectively manage customer relationships, navigate complex sales cycles, and achieve business objectives.
Government & Public Sector Strategy, Intelligence & Procurement
- Monitors and analyzes national and sector-specific budgets, public expenditure plans, development programs, and government funding allocations to proactively identify sales opportunities and strategic growth areas.
- Interprets government budget statements, appropriations, and funding priorities to align Liberty's solutions with national development initiatives, digital transformation programs, and public investment projects.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of government procurement regulations, tendering processes, framework agreements, and public sector compliance requirements.
- Ensure timely positioning and participation in Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and tender opportunities
- Tracks political, economic, regulatory, and industry developments that may influence government spending priorities and public sector investment decisions.
- Collaborates with product, technology, and solution teams to design offerings that address public sector challenges, policy objectives, cybersecurity requirements, and digital modernization initiatives.
Public Sector Stakeholder Engagement, Representation & Governance
- Develops strategic engagement plans with ministries, statutory authorities, state enterprises, local government bodies, and regulatory agencies to strengthen Liberty's public sector presence.
- Represents Liberty at government, industry, and stakeholder forums, fostering relationships that enhance the company's visibility and influence within the public sector ecosystem.
- Ensures all public sector engagements are conducted in accordance with Liberty's governance standards, ethics policies, procurement requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
What You'll Need
Preferred Education/Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience in ICT
- Previous experience in a Consultative Selling role
- Experience in leading and coaching a team
- Bachelor degree (minimum) in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering is required.
Specific Knowledge/Experience/Software/Apps:
- Salesforce.com
- Mircosoft Teams
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal or no supervision (i.e. self-motivated and willing to stretch to meet important deadlines).
- Ability to work in a team environment and have experience leading teams in the delivery of large multivendor projects.
- Ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
- Experience in development of submissions in response to Request for Proposals
- Proven ability to consistently achieve targets
- Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, among others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills in building client relationships, proposals and deliverables.
- Develops new approaches to establish and maintain an effective relationship with clients through senior management contact
