General Summary

Executes tactics to support public relations plans in support of WellSpan's strategic plan and short- and long-term goals. Proactively identifies public relations opportunities and needs related to media relations, social media, community engagement and thought leadership. Contributes to an integrated, collaborative, data-driven Public Relations team that is known for high reliability and excellence in execution. Must be exceptional interviewers and writers, enjoy executing events, and being part of a highly collaborative, innovative, and data-driven Marketing and Communications function.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively with the Public Relations team to identify priorities and develop/implement annual plans to support strategic priorities or implement best-in-class public relations work.
  • Supports the Program Leads of Media Relations, Social Media, Community Engagement and Thought Leadership in plan execution.
  • Aids in the creative execution of PR activities to enhance brand reputation and engagement.
  • Provides event support, media escorts and other onsite support as needed.
  • Supports crisis communication efforts.
  • Continuously scans the internal and external environment, understands the system’s major strategic and operating priorities.
  • Writes and produces content including media releases, e-newsletters, talking points, speeches, articles, publications, brochures, posters, news releases, feature stories, online content, etc.
  • Responsible for photography and videography of system functions and other related activities.
  • Plans and coordinates meetings and special events to meet designated objectives.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Assists in proofreading, writing and idea development for internal communications projects.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimated Amount: 15% - Periodic travel required primarily for meetings, trainings, and periodic visits to clients, project sites, or system locations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 2 years Experience in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations, preferably with experience in a large, complex healthcare organization. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written/oral communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to embrace new technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong journalistic writing, copyediting and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms and tools (e.g., Yammer, intranet systems).
  • Strong project management and organization abilities.
