About the Role and Team

Uber's Policy Manager, Charging will leverage their expertise in EV charging, transportation electrification, and public policy to develop strategies that support the deployment of charging infrastructure and the growth of electric mobility at Uber. In this role, you'll shape regulatory and policy strategies across a broad range of charging issues, identify opportunities to influence evolving regulatory frameworks, and help create the policy environment that enables Uber's long-term electrification strategy. You'll also develop Uber's strategy for engaging utilities, as well as cultivating strategic relationships with policymakers, regulators, and other external stakeholders.

What you'll do
  • Develop and execute Uber's global EV Charging policy strategy, partnering with regional Public Policy teams to advance advocacy priorities across key markets.
  • Shape policy and regulatory frameworks affecting EV charging by developing policy positions, advocacy strategies, and recommendations that support Uber's long-term business objectives.
  • Identify emerging legislative and regulatory opportunities and risks, translating complex policy developments into clear business recommendations and advocacy strategies.
  • Develop and execute Uber's strategy for engaging electric utilities in existing and future markets.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with executive stakeholders at electric utilities, policymakers, regulators, charging companies, trade associations, and NGOs to advance policies and partnerships that support charging infrastructure deployment.
  • Support regional Public Policy teams by providing subject matter expertise on EV charging, transportation electrification, and utility policy, and helping develop advocacy strategies across global markets.
  • Draft policy positions, consultation responses, regulatory comments, executive briefing materials, and other written advocacy materials.
  • Represent Uber in industry coalitions, conferences, workshops, and stakeholder forums, helping strengthen Uber's leadership on charging and transportation electrification policy.
  • Partner with Product, Sustainability, Legal, Communications, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to incorporate policy considerations into business strategy and support informed decision-making.


Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, transportation electrification, or a related field.
  • Experience working within technology, automotive, charging, clean energy, or transportation sectors.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing policy positions, regulatory comments, and executive-level materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on EV charging policy or transportation electrification, including familiarity with charging deployment issues such as utility interconnection, permitting, zoning, or land-use policy.
  • Experience engaging electric utilities and utility commissions, with a track record of influencing regulatory decisions, utility programs, or policy outcomes.
  • Strong relationships with government, industry, and other external stakeholders relevant to transportation electrification.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, particularly North America and Europe

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $159,000 per year - USD $177,000 per year.

You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
