Job Description

Senior Public Health Officer – Ageing Well Partnerships & Compassionate Communities

Permanent

Grade D - £45,091 – £53,460

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Birmingham is a young city, but it is also home to a rapidly growing and diverse older population. Ensuring people can age well, remain independent, and stay connected to their communities is one of our key public health priorities.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Public Health Officer to join our Ageing Well and Workplace Health team and play a leading role in delivering Birmingham’s Ageing Well Strategy.

This is a unique opportunity to lead programmes that support healthier ageing across the city while also developing Birmingham’s Compassionate Cities and Dying Well programme, helping to build stronger community support for people approaching the end of life and those experiencing grief and bereavement.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic public health programmes that improve outcomes for older residents.
  • Build and convene partnerships across the council, NHS, Integrated Care System, voluntary and community sector and community networks.
  • Strengthen Birmingham’s approach to compassionate communities, supporting people through later life, death and bereavement.
  • Translate strategy into practical programmes and initiatives that improve wellbeing and reduce inequalities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across organisations, bringing people together and delivering meaningful system change.

You will join an ambitious and supportive Public Health team that is leading innovative work across healthy ageing, prevention, community wellbeing and workplace health.
