Job Description

Leidos is seeking an experienced Public Health Analyst / Epidemiologist to support the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) program for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position will develop computer programs (primarily using R) to monitor data quality; communicate with users regarding issues with NHSN surveillance system activities and protocols; support NHSN users on higher-level questions related to facility set-up, data collection, and running system reports; organize study files, including data and correspondence files; and triage user questions to infection preventionists and other subject matter experts.

Role is remote - CANDIDATE MUST:

be a US Citizen or US Person located in the UNITED STATES for the CURRENT THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS and be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

To provide help desk support and training for Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs):

Provide technical support with the NHSN Help desk email

Identify and create necessary NHSN module/manual updates and mechanisms for electronic reporting to NHSN resulting from technological advancements, infection/disease trends, and/or year updates of system components.

Establish program standards, policies, strategies, goals and evaluation plans in conjunction with senior staff.

Participate in management conference calls and meetings with leadership team regarding change requests to the NHSN surveillance systems.

Conducts user outreach and education and provide consultation and technical assistance healthcare facilities, quality improvement organizations, and health departments to support their HAI prevention, surveillance, and response activities, and to meet NHSN data quality needs.

Provides input on NHSN HAI helpdesk inquiries that require complex analysis and/or advanced knowledge of NHSN reporting criteria, enrollment procedures, and surveillance protocols.

Prepares and presents educational training about NHSN to professional organizations and bodies at national, state, and local levels.

Participates in epidemiological investigations and other technical assistance.

Participates in special CDC Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion studies or projects.

BASIC QUALIFI CATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related field with 2-5 years of experience.

R Proficient, Intermediate to Advanced

Strong oral and written communication skills to compile, organize, and present statistical information to various audiences as well as explain processes and choices as needed

Preferred qualifications

MS, MPH, MSPH in public health or related field

Experience working with statistical software programs such as SAS, Python, PySpark, SQL and other data management tools.

Estimated salary: 75-80K

Pay Range:

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
