Public Area Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Lobby, Lower Lobby, Elevators, Rest Rooms, Courtyard, Outlets and Hotel Office Areas.

Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:

  • Key Job Functions
    • To establish a comprehensive understanding and demonstrate the Sonesta guest standards
    • To establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all: cleaning chemicals, air fresheners and supplies required for this position
    • To establish an understanding and the knowledgeable for all surfaces to be cleaned and appropriate cleaners
    • Ensure rest rooms are clean and maintained in an excellent state of police. Bathroom rounds should be made every 30 minutes and every 15 minutes during special events/functions
    • Ensure bathrooms are disinfected during each round
    • Report all maintenance problems and follow up to completion
    • Report all carpet/ upholstery spill/spots
    • Ensure the following are cleaned as they are used: ash trays and urns, tables, counter tops, windows, and mirrors
    • Dust Mop all floors and dust all furniture at the start of each shift, 45 minutes before the shift ends and as needed
    • Maintain contact with housekeeping via radio/pager
    • Respond to hotel requests within 15 minutes
    • Remain visible in work area any other duties given by management.
    • Collect any Lost/Found items in the Public Area, entering the information in the Lost/Found log maintained in the office
    • Inventory stock and supplies to ensure adequate supplies

    • You will be passionate and truly engaged in taking care of our guests, recognizing individual guests and anticipating their unique needs in order to exceed their expectations
    • You will consistently deliver our GUEST model:
      • Greet or welcome everyone, warmly with a smile
      • Use eye and ear contact and guest’s name
      • Establish/anticipate needs
      • Solve and own all requests/complaints
      • Thank everyone
  • Build solid relationship with your Colleagues
    • Treat colleagues with respect and dignity
    • Treat people with respect; Keep commitments; inspire the trust of others; Work with integrity and ethically; Uphold organizational values.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Qualifications and Skills

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.

  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience
  • Have basic to intermediate writing/reading/comprehension skills and professional vocabulary and etiquette;
  • Have the ability to comfortably interact with guests, work alone or with others;
  • Maintain Sonesta uniform and grooming standards
  • Comfortably work in a diverse environment with regard to guests, members of the Housekeeping T.E.A.M. and hotel employees
  • PC-based computer platforms (Smartphone technology to report maintenance discrepancies)

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
