
The Office of Policy, Planning, and Resources for Public Diplomacy, Outreach and Communications Unit (OCOM), requires a Public Affairs Specialist to develop and execute strategic communications projects to further the understanding of public diplomacy; monitor a variety of digital tools and trainings within the unit; and serve as a primary creator for various communications products.
Job Duties:
Support Communications Planning and Execution. Partners with the Senior Communications Advisor and the Knowledge Base Coordinator to identify, design, and execute compelling communications initiatives to advance OCOM’s mission. Coordinates and leads key operational and creative processes and convenes groups as appropriate to advance these initiatives. Leads the design and execution of individual communications projects as needed.
Support Unit Operations Supports the operations of the Outreach and Communications Unit, including managing and advising on team interactions and devising and documenting processes. Supports the Unit’s interactions with stakeholders to design, fulfill, and secure clearance for communications products and processes. Acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the Unit Chief in shaping the Unit’s strategy and operational plans.
Analyze and Report on Communications. In conjunction with the Senior Communications Advisor and Knowledge Base Coordinator, serves as a project lead for the implementation and evaluation of the unit’s digital tools and respective training of these tools. Analyzes and reports on the success of projects to assess progress on strategic goals and objectives. Determines and documents key trends, guidance, and best practices for future projects. Provides expert advice and guidance on the implementation of new communications projects based on observed trends and best practices.
