Job Description

We are seeking a Public Affairs Manager to join our Strategic Priorities Communications team, focused on policy communications for Meta's Reality Labs. In this role, you will develop and execute public affairs strategies for our growing family of wearable devices — including smart glasses, wrist-based devices, and other emerging form factors.
You will work closely with the Reality Labs Product Communications team, as well as cross-functional partners including Policy, Legal, and Product on how Meta approaches building next-generation wearable technology. As part of the Strategic Priorities Communications teams, you may also develop public affairs strategies related to other product or policy priority areas. Candidates should have experience in technology policy communications or public affairs, with familiarity with emerging technology and consumer devices.

Responsibilities
Create communications plans and materials for policy audiences — including blog posts, statements, social content, and briefing documents — to help them understand our practices, protections, and enforcement efforts for wearables
* Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape around wearable technology, providing strategic counsel and rapid response support
* Develop proactive communications strategies to educate policy audiences on how Meta approaches trust in wearables
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Policy, Risk, Legal, Product, Marketing, etc.) to ensure alignment on policy communications for wearable devices
* Distill complex technical topics into clear, accessible language for diverse policy audiences
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including agency partners, third-party advocates, and reporters covering wearable technology
* Support rapid response efforts related to policy issues for wearable products

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, or a related field
* Bachelor's degree in political science, communications, journalism, English, or a related field
* Experience in policy, communications, public affairs, or issue management related to privacy, safety, security, data practices, or technology policy
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships
* Experience writing, editing, and communicating to create messaging materials and communications plans for policy audiences Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
* Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
* Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
* Experience in supporting rapid response or issue management efforts
* Experience with legislative, regulatory, or litigation communications or policy related to technology policy
* Familiarity with managing communications or policy issues for wearable technology, AR/VR, AI, biometric data, or other emerging technologies
* Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
* Experience working at a communications firm or public affairs agency on technology policy, regulatory, or issue-based campaigns
* Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
* Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
