
The Orientation & Mobility Specialist provides quality assessments and training to clients of all ages throughout the New Orleans and Baton Rouge regions. The job requires both facility-based and itinerant training to foster safe and independent travel skills for the clients we serve. The Orientation & Mobility Specialist participates in community outreach events, advocacy opportunities, and meetings with local coalitions to represent the needs of people with vision loss. He/she consults on the continuing development of Vision Rehabilitation Service programs.

Many of the items we produce are sold to the United States Government, and are used by US troops around the world.
Locally, the Lighthouse helps youth and adults make the most of their remaining vision; find a job; build computer skills; use tools to manage their daily lives; and build a network of support for increased quality of life.
We also provide professional American Sign Language interpreting and connect people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing with equipment and resources.
