We are seeking a highly experienced Senior R&D Mechanical Design Expert specializing in power transformers to drive technology development, innovation, and next-generation product design.

This role is distinctly focused on research, advanced engineering methodologies, and long-term technology strategy rather than project execution.

The successful candidate will lead the development of new design concepts, analytical methods, and engineering standards, while advancing the mechanical performance, reliability, and sustainability of transformer technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • R&D & Technology Development

  • Lead research and development of advanced mechanical design concepts for next-generation power transformers
  • Define and develop new design methodologies, tools, and internal standards (including Design Handbook – DH rules)
  • Explore innovative materials, structures, and manufacturing techniques to enhance transformer performance and durability
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them into product platforms
  • Advanced Simulation & Digital Engineering

  • Develop and implement advanced simulation methodologies using: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Multiphysics simulations (structural, thermal, electromagnetic interactions), ANSYS or equivalent high-end simulation tools.
  • Establish best practices for simulation-driven design and digital validation
  • Correlate simulation models with experimental and field data to improve accuracy
  • Lead development of digital twins and predictive modelling capabilities
  • Failure Physics & Reliability Engineering

  • Lead deep-dive failure investigations to understand fundamental failure mechanisms
  • Develop physics-of-failure models for transformer components and systems
  • Translate failure insights into design rules, standards, and technology improvements
  • Define and enhance reliability engineering frameworks, including DFMEA methodologies
  • Build knowledge databases for failure modes and lessons learned
  • Design Standards & Knowledge Development

  • Own and continuously improve internal design standards, guidelines, and DH rules
  • Develop scalable engineering tools, calculation methods, and automation frameworks
  • Capture and institutionalize technical knowledge across the organization
  • Publish technical papers, patents, and internal whitepapers

About GE Vernova

GE Vernova is a purpose-built energy technology company on a mission to electrify to thrive and decarbonize the world.

It is made up of three businesses -- Power, Wind, and Electrification -- with focus on accelerating the path to more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy, while helping our customers power economies and deliver the electricity that is vital to health, safety, security, and improved quality of life.

The world needs more energy, smarter energy. With energy demand expected to grow by more than 50% in the next 20 years, we are continuously innovating to meet the moment…like we have for the past 130 years. The Energy of Change and relentless optimism are what drive us – it’s about never giving up and seeing what’s possible so that we deliver the energy technologies the world needs right now and for generations to come.

GE Vernova’s attitude and edge is embedded in its name. We retain our treasured legacy, “GE,” as an enduring and hard-earned badge of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” / “verde” signal Earth’s verdant and lush ecosystems. “Nova,” from the Latin “novus,” nods to a new, innovative era of lower carbon energy that GE Vernova will help deliver.

Together, we have the energy to change the world.
